As business owners and team builders we sometimes think it is our job to have all the answers. However, there is too much to know about running a successful business to be the expert on everything. We will learn when, how and who to ask for help along with the warning signs that action is required now.  Debra Clay, volunteer mentor at Score since 2010, will facilitate this interactive meeting.  Debra advises entrepreneurs on business start-ups, growth strategies and exiting a business.  She is the owner of a local consulting business that guides high school students and their families on career direction and college choice.

Debra began her career at Caterpillar Inc. in Marketing Communication and Product Marketing, then moved into Strategic Planning where she led strategy development for business units within Caterpillar, as well as independently owned Caterpillar dealerships.  Most recently, she was responsible for recruiting and hiring Caterpillar’s Marketing talent, and led the career development process for 2000+ employees.

Debra holds a B.A. in Communications from Northern Illinois University and an MBA from Bradley University.  She completed an executive program in Business-to-Business Marketing Strategy at Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

She serves on the Board of the Fine Arts Society of Peoria, is a Community Representative for the Higher Education Consultants Association, and a member of the National College Advocacy Group.
