SPEAKER: Councilman Chuck Weaver

TOPIC: "Eggs and Boulders"

BIOGRAPHY:  Chuck Weaver is a Peoria native. He attended Bradley University for his undergraduate degree and acquired his Jurist Doctorate, in the top 15% of his class from DePaul University in Chicago.

Chuck practiced law with Westervelt, Johnson, Nicoll and Keller until 1985. He then went to work for Weaver Enterprises, a Kentucky Fried Chicken franchisee, as Director of Operations. Later he was promoted to the position of President with responsibility for the company’s 600 employees. In 2003 he changed his focus to the commercial and residential real estate development business. In 2004-5 Chuck was actively involved in the leadership of a developer group which annexed 700 acre, Growth Cell 1A, into the City of Peoria. He is a minority shareholder and serves on the boards of First State Bank  and RMH Foods. Chuck is also actively involved in numerous startup companies with a focus on improving job opportunities for Peoria.

Chuck’s board-of-directors involvement reaches to the national level where has been President of the Kentucky Fried Chicken Franchisee Association; board member and Treasurer of the United States Polo Association’s apparel business, (the 44th most marketable brand in the world); and a member of the Board of Regents of YUM University (KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut, answer to McDonald’s Hamburger U.) In the not-for-profit arena Chuck has served as Chairman of the three state Young Life heartland Region and he currently serves as the Chairman of the United States Polo Association (US Olympic Committee recognized NGB). Chuck was also the founding president of the Central Illinois Angels.

Chuck’s local charitable activities focus on Christian youth ministries. He has also established Leaders Change Peoria, which encourages not for profit startups focused on impacting low income kids in Peoria. Chuck has served from 1983-2012 as a board member at Youth Farm (now Children’s Home) a residential and treatment facility for troubled teens. He attends Northwoods Community Church.

MEETINGS: Our meetings are open to members and guests. Social/networking time begins at 5:30 pm and dinner begins at 6:30 pm with the program following. The Central IL Chapter of NAWBO® meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month.

COST: $30 for members and $35 for non-members.
